Kain ran down the street, the moist air seeming like sweat on his skin, his foot steps were gentle taps on the concrete. Kain partially hid his sword under his jacket, but he was running for his life. Behind him ran a group of street thugs, dressed in somewhat ratty clothes. After escaping a mugging Kain had bolted for his life rather then draw attention by drawing his sword.
Running quickly Kain skidded turning down an alleyway with a fenced ending. He would take a deep breath as he jumped and kicked against the wall, then he would use the momentum to boost himself a bit more then again to get up and over the fence. The gang members footsteps can be heard along with shootings nearby as Kain bursts through a door into a ghetto apartment complex, the dry wall gray and dirty.Running down a dirty corridor which reeked of drugs, alcohol and rotted things, he tried not to notice the foul odor. By now his lungs burned and ached, his muscles sore and worn out.
"All this for a tank of gas!?!" Kain yelled to himself as he ran down a corner, behind him his pursers yelled out. He had planned to get some gasoline for his motor cycle, but then he had gotten mugged. It hadn't been for much, he had just wanted to get some fresh air, not run for his life.
Kain would pant in gasping breaths as he made it out into the street, at this rate he would need to stop and fight, but four on one made things hard. He would spot an old building that seemed to blend in with it's surroundings, Kain looked at it as if it was a haven of some sort. He would quickly run towards the door and walk quickly into the bar, Kain would push the door open with a shove and close it behind him panting hard, his lungs on fire and in great pain. Leaning against the door he inhaled deeply to gain control of his body.He would then sit in a corner where he felt he would be less likely to be seen and pray that the thugs would pass him by.
Sitting there he had time to look around, he hoped he hadn't looked to suspicious walking in, he didn't need more attention then he already had. Kain was momentarily reminded of how alone he was in the world, his only friend had been Zen. Probably because of his distant and hateful attitude. But he couldn't help himself, it was natural. Sighing he sat there, why had he run? Maybe they would have killed him. Kain frowned as he was momentarily saddened by this, He shrugged and stayed in his shadowy corner. He would wish he wasn't always so alone in this world, even if someone would spend enough time with him that he could get to know them.
He would growl at his stupid thoughts, he didn't need anyone, they had done this to him. Only his parents had cared, and everyone else had betrayed him when he lived. Maybe Zen cared, maybe not.
Sulking Kain would sit there and glance at the other people in the room, a cute girl who tended the bar and then some old guy who would drunkenly walk out.

Orchid looked up, seeing who had just entered the bar, she sighed and put down the cloth she was using to clean the counter with. She then put on her smile and walked over to the stranger in the corner. She managed this bar, pretty much all on her own. It was a small place and not too many people came around here. She was almost the only waitress, and she also did all the cooking around here too. She place a hand on her hip and smiled, shifting her weight.
"Hey there Honey, what can I get for ya?" She smiled kindly. Obviously she didnt have much to do around here, and having a new guy come in, kind of brightened up the place a little, prought a little life and interest to the bar. Her uniform consisted of a plain white shirt, and black tie, and a knee length black skirt, which she would wear tight black shorts underneath. Who knew what some men would do if she didnt wear them. She shrugged it off and looked down at the young man, waiting for his answer.

Kain would slowly look up at the waitress,at first he nearly thought her a vampire but she seemed to be alive. He would glance away before she thought he had developed a staring problem or before he did developed one. "Uh well I don't know.." He mutters wondering how long he might be caged up in this bar. Kain shrugs before looking to her eyes and pausing, "Well how about a rum and coke." He blinked at her kindness when he found the ability to speck again. "Go light on the rum please." He asked disliking it when it was all rum and no coke so that the liquid would burn on the way down. Kain would take a deep breath and will his body to settle down. "And thank you." Despite his angry eyes, he enjoyed the kind tone, it had been the only one he had heard other then maybe Zen's.

Orchid nodded and walked back off to her counter. She grabbed a tray and stacked two glasses, a bottle of rum as well as two cans of coke, and two shot glasses onto the tray. She then balanced it upon her right hand and made her way back over to the stranger, She set down both glasses, then the coke, filled both cups, humming lightly as she did so. She then put down the two shot glasses and slid them aside, pouring a small amount of the amber colored rum into the glass of coke, only pouring in enough that it would have a bit of a warming effect. Orchid then sat herself down infront of him, resting her chin in the palm of her hand, her elbow resting against the table top for support.
"So whats your name?" She asked kindly, trying to start a conversation. The bar was generally empty at this time, maybe one or two people sitting around, reading the paper. Orchid simply smiled and waited for the young man to reply to her question.

"Elric...Kain Elric." He'd say and looked at her before taking a glass carefully and sipping it. The rum was mixed well, it wasn't burning nor stinging. Good. Having a moment he flinched, lately he'd been running alot and his musles were acheing in pain from the abuse, he used to be a track runner in highschool, but that was awhile back. His muscles had lost there tone and now he suffured for it, hopefully the rum would numb his body for a little bit. With the mixture of lack of sleep, stress, lack of eatting properly and the training, it was no wonder his body ached so much. Everything ached and was sore, like it was all falling apart and often Kain felt he would just collapse of the ground. "Hmm Kain Elric..And you would be?" He'd ask not trying to be rude despite his body crying out to him. He'd even manage to give her a small smile.

Orchid looked up and smiled sweetly, "Ruka, Ruka Vaille. But folks 'round here just call me Orchid." She looked at him quietly, then reached into her bottle, and handed him a bottle of pills.
"You look a little tense" She smiled again, "Its not lethal or anything, so don't worry Kain." She said softly, sliding the small bottle of pills towards him. Orchid often got sore muscles, of course working in this place for ten hours a day, six days a week would do that. She cringed at the thought, thinking that it would be nice to have someone help her out around the bar sometime. She looked back Kain, and raised a brow as her eyes drifted over his clothes.
Poor boy.. She thought to herself, frowning a little bit. She took a sip of the coke and simply smiled, trying to be very friendly.

Maybe it had been the pain in his body or the lack of sleep or quite possibly even the lack of sleep, but Kain would laugh or close to a laugh. More like an exasperated chuckle. "Tense is putting it mildly, I just lost my family a few weeks ago. Either everyone thinks I'm dead or didn't care enough to know me. My body aches and I feel like I'll randomly pass out...But other then that I'm wonderful!" He laughed again taking the pills and pocketing them. "Ahh yes.. but I out ran those thugs! Luck had to hold eventually!" He laughed at himself and sipped his drink slowly. "I mean...how much worse can it get?" He laughed rolling his shoulders, "And it's nice meeting you to Ruka Orchid Vaille" Some how when he said her name it would come out smooth and sweetly Perhaps he'd been hanging with his vampire 'friends' to much or maybe he was just relaxing for the first time in what seemed like ages. "And thanks.." He'd mutter exhale slowly to calm his shattered mind, Kain stretched stiffly, hard to lossen up when a sword was keeping your spine straight..

Orchid corrected him.
"Please just call me orchid." She murmured, smiling soon after, she watched and waited for Kain to finish his drink. She then stood up and rushed everyone out of the bar, closing and locking the door. She then turned to Kain and smiled.
"Now then, come with me." She said softly, leading him over to a door. She opened the door and revealed the staircase, looking at him with her gentle eyes. She wasnt leading him into some trap or anything, just simply wanted to help him. She reminded him a lot of her brother.. She kept it hidden, but the pain seemed to glint within her Indigo eyes. She then smiled and kindly offered.
"Lets get you cleaned up." She grabbed his wrist and led him up the stairs.

Kain had hardly managed to finish his drink before he would get pulled off by her, it seemed oddly familiar. Regardless he wouldn't put up a fight. He would enjoy the slight buzz from the drink, managing to numb his body and make him feel warm. He was still very tired, but at least not as sore. "I'm sorry then Orchid." He laughed a bit, he had always enjoyed that type of flower. HE knew they were the most exquised and delicate flowers, to him they always seemed to be clinging to life. How odd, the anger he had felt seemed a bit distant and out of reach. Sure the negative feelings still brooded, but in a different less volatile place at the moment. How interesting, a secret stair case. Things like this shouldn't suprise him, yet somehow it had. He actully didn't know what to say to the kind women who would lead him around.

Orchid led Kain up the stairs and opened yet another door, dragging him into a nice cozt place with a couch, TV set, a small kitchen, two small bedrooms and a bathroom as well. She smiled and looked at him.
"Well, this is my place." She said a little half heartedly. It wasnt much, but it was a nice place, with a gentle aura. The blinds were closed, but if they were open during the day, the sunlight would often sift into the small living room. She smiled and turned on a lamp walking over to what seemed to be a closed. She slid it open and pulled out a large towel, pulling him down the hall. She then opened the door.
"Here, use all the hot water you want." She smiled softly, turning on the light for him. "You need it.." she liked to be kind to people, but since he looked so much like the brother she had lost.. She just couldn't help it, she had to open up her heart for him. She had to help him.

Kain looked around the quaint little place not minding one bit. In Fact he gave another thin and smooth smile. "Well it isn't bad." He muttered to himself and shrugged a bit. Kain would find himself being lead yet again by this women called Orchid down a hall way of sorts and to a bathroom. He gave her his common thin smile, his eyes more soft then they were. He felt that even though he'd just met her that he might be able to trust her. "Thanks again." He'd say with a meaningful tone and then shrug from his jacket, using it to wrap up both his sword, knife and dog tags. He would take the towel from her and hold it all in his arms. "However I don't wish to impose." He said blankly hoping to not offended her at all.
Kain looked into her eyes and paused a moment before bowing slightly, he should be respectful of her kindness, the first human in awhile to have helped him out or even acknowledge his exsistence at all. He however couldn't help but wonder why she was being so nice.

Orchid nodded and closed the door. She walked back into the living room and sat down with a book, beginning to read. There was something strange about the young man. He was so distant, so easily able to talk about his dead family, but how were they killed? and why did he smell jasmine? She thought for a moment, yes, it was the smell of jasmine incense, with a touch of rose, though very faint, as if someones perfume had rubbed off on him. Orchid then had an idea, she got up, and grabbed a baggy T-Shirt and a pair of large sweat pants from her bedroom. She then knocked on the door of the bathroom. When Kain didnt reply she opened the door a little bit,
"Kain?" She noticed the water running and slipped in, covering her eyes to be courteous. She replaced his shirt and pants with the clothes she had chosen for him to use for the moment being. SHe left the jacket alone, seeing as he probably didnt want her touching it. She then slipped out of the bathroom quickly, and put his clothes in the washer, walking into the kitchen to start making some hot chocolate.

Kain had quickly stripped of his clothing and then after he had given a stretch he would enter the shower, turning on the hot water full blast and instantly loving the heat. "Oh god..." He groaned lowly as he leaned against the wall and let the hot water run down his aching back.
Kain closed his eyes as the water was near scorching, but he needed the heat, it felt so very good. He hadn't even heard the knock, nor his name.
After a long while he would pick up the soap, hoping it wouldn't smell to girly and he began to rub his neck with it. Then he would scrub his neck and shoulders. Kain continued washing his chest, legs and body till he put the soap back and thoroughly rinsed himself off.
After washing he would sit and just let the water fall upon him, like rain onto his body, it felt good and he nearly fell asleep. He didn't want to get up and move ever again. He was so beaten and worn his body had just wanted to collapse on top of itself. Kain's mind would roll over his pain and why he continued to exist, he came up with short answers, 'Zen wouldn't like it.' was the top one on the list. But inside something was driving Kain, an urge. Perhaps his defiant attitude caused him to refuse this fate of just dieing still and alone.
Kain would stand up eventually and turn the water off before drying himself and stepping out of the shower. He looked at the new clothes set out for him and gave a thin smile. Well he had little else to wear less he went buck naked.
Laughing he dressed himself and combed his hair. He would then collect his things and walk out of the bathroom. Dog tags around his neck.

Zen was now curious, it was late and Kain has still not returned to the Coven. She sighed, why did she feel so... heavy? She grabbed her cloak and slipped out into the night, searching for his scent. She followed, and ended up at a bar, but the place was closed. When she glanced up, she noticed that there was a light on upstairs. Surely it had to be the bar owner. She climbed the brick wall and opened the window, slipping in soundlessly. She glanced around and sniffed the air, blinking with surprise. Kains scent was here, but... so was someone elses, someone familiar. She catiously slipped into the kitchen and grinned.
"Orchid." She smiled, having known the bar manager, someone she frequently spoke to. Zen leaned against the counter and smiled. "How are you..?"

Orchid turned and smiled at the vampire,
"Zen!" She was glad to see the woman, then thought for a moment, Kain smelled just like Zen... but a weaker scent. Orchid shrugged and hummed, pouring hot chocolate for her and Kain. She glanced at Zen and smiled a little, letting out a small laugh.
"Sorry.. not for vampires." She laughed weakly, and looked at the woman. Still beautiful as always. Orchid simply smiled, leaning against a counter as she looked at Zen.
"I am well, and how might you be..?" She asked kindly.
