She still had the tendancy to blush a bit round the edges so avoided looking into his eyes for too long. "I am glad to hear it. And yes, I am feeling much better. You have to admit though that was a bit intense." She sipped her tea once more briefly but as a thought occured to her she furrowed her brows together and set the cup down hastily. "Jacob...how many of your kind are there?"

Jacob smiled and nodded at her, glad that she was indeed alright after she had been seemingly overwhelmed by his emotions. "Thats good to hear... And indeed it was..." He sighed softly at her question and shrugged. "I really have no idea... I suppose there are covens dotted around the globe, and there is no real way to be certain of how many exist."

"Covens?", she asked while trying her legs out again. Lukewarm tea really was intollerable and she rose to her feet to take the pot over to the counter. "Do you belong to one of those? Or do you have to avoid others because of your...radical views?" She poured some of the tea out into a cofffee mug so she could nuke it in the micorwave. She never did that with her china tea set. It was much too nice to risk in the microwave.
Leaning back against the counter she had a terrible sweet tooth suddenly and went back to the table for a cookie. She leaned her thigh against the table and crossed her ankles as she stood there munching, looking down at him expectantly awaiting his reply.

Jacob watched her carefully, a soft sigh escaping his lips as she went back and forth between the table and the counter for a cookie and to reheat her tea. "Indeed, I don't belong to any coven, nor do I plan on ever joining one... You put it perfectly, my views are too radical." He sighed deeply in frustration, he had always been against the war and he adamantly opposed it.

She nibbled the shortbread cookie there until the microwave went off. Moving back to the counter she spoke with her back to him, her long golden hair reaching just down below her shoulders. Her blue jeans were frayed at the edges from where they drug the ground and she had refused to hem them. She never knew who these Amazonian women were that all the jean companies thought were buying their product, but she could never find anything that wasn't at least 4 inches too long, sometimes more.
As she poured the tea back into her china cup she asked, "Then do you have to hide yourself from this city's vampires?" she turned round and came back to the table reclaiming her seat. "They don't know how you feel do they? I mean that was so long ago and in France."

Jacob simply sat silently watching her nibble at her cookie before she poured her reheated tea into her china cup, With a soft sigh he gave her question a shrug. "They tend to leave me alone, and I tend to leave them alone... I doubt they really care about me or my views anyway, its not like I go around preaching them."
With another sigh he stood from his seat and wandered around the kitchen, looking back and forth at everything before speaking. "So, if you don't mind my asking... What is a beautiful young lady like yourself doing living alone in such a large apartment?" He glanced back at her as he leaned his lower back against the counter.

After hearing his question, she nibbled her cookie with a bit of an expression on her face before answering. It wouldn't be far fetched to say it was wry amusement, but then again it just might have been amazement that for as old as he was he could still sound like a teen with a pick up line. Shaking her head she said, "Well, let's just say that I had had enough of the home town scene and needed to strike out on my own for a bit." She took her tea in her hand and walked over to the window inthe living room. "come here Jacob and take a look at this.
She pulled the curtains apart to reveal the venician blinds and turned the rod at the side so she could peak out onto the city below. Into the night she gazed and spotted the teens in the garage who were making music. "There is much life in this town, and up in the hills where I come from time seems to go so slow. It was time for me to move on from that old life is all."

Jacob smiled sweetly at her as she spoke, nodding in understanding. "I see, well, I get it. I don't really like staying places that are dull and slow... They irritate me." His eyes slowly scanned her body from behind as she walked into the living room and called for him to follow.
He followed her without question and looked out the window as she opened it, his eyes following the different actions of the people outside. Silently he stood beside her nodding at her words before speaking. "So you like it here I take it?"

She gazed out onto the street a moment more before she turned to answer him. "It's alright. I'm not what you call a city girl, Jacob. Rather I am more at home in the forests among the hills and wild places. I miss my big river too..." She turned the rod so the blinds would shut out the world once more and drew the curtains closed.
Those guys in the band below seemed so carefree. What would they think if they knew for a certainty that Lycan and Vampire both prowled their little city? She absentmindely rubbed her wrist where he had so recently fed and pondered the questions of the night. She didn't question why she had given of herself to him, it was the way she was. She saw a need in someone and moved to fullfull it. Nothing more, nothing less. No, she didn't question who or what she was, she knew herself well. Rather, it was the greater make up of the universe she pondered. The plan...the why for of it all...She chuckled and murmured, "42..."
Looking up to him she smiled and said, "I needed independance though, that would never come to me in that small bit of the world. Does that make any sense, Jacob?"

Jacob turned to her as she turned to him, smiling slightly before she closed the blinds, with a soft sigh he caught the motion of her rubbing her wrist, the same one he had fed from, softly he spoke. "I honestly have no preference to either city or wilderness... They both just seem like spaces to occupy to me."
He slowly ran a hand through his long raven black hair, he furrowed his brow in slight confusion having heard her say a single number. "..42? What does that mean exactly? Quite honestly I understand comepletely... I have been alone for a long while and I have enjoyed it most of the time....." His words trailed off as he finished the sentence, a slight smile playing across his features.

She took in his appearance finding him to be quite the attractive man. Especailly his long dark hair. It was too bad that she just wasn't interested in men at this time in her life for he was fine to look upon. The thought made her smile and she had to force herself to concetrate upon his words. "Mostly, you have enjoyed the solitude...I can well imagine that after long ages it would grow tiresome." She moved toward him so she could pass by to take a seat on the couch behind him. Laughing at his earlier question though she said, "...42? Forgive me, but do you read much Jacob? Douglas Adams perhaps? His 'Hitchhiker's Guide to The Universe?" She passed before him to take up the seat she was after, kicking her shoes off and tucking her feet beneath her.
"In the book, which was also a radio series on the BBC back in the '70's, the different races are looking for the ultimate answer to the meaning of life, the universe and everything it contains...the why of it all...turns out the answer was 42."

Jacob smiled as she passed by him to sit on the couch, he moved to sit on the far side of the couch, turning to face her he shrugged at her statement about being alone for so long.... He listened to her explanation of number 42, then laughed, understanding how truly ironic that would be, to discover the very secret of the universe was as meaningless as the question itself. "I really have not read to many things in my time, I rarely found interest in any of the things written."

She stared at him amazed to learn her didn't read much. "Truely?" She guestured toward several book shelves along the far wall, and to her computer desk towering with stacks of books she had no room to shelve. "I can't imagine what I would do without my books. What do you do to keep busy then?"

Jacob laughed softly at her expression, seemingly shocked that he wasn't much of a reader, He glanced to her bookshelf and gave her a shrug. "Indeed, I don't read much... What I do to pass the time is usually training my body in one form or another."

She smiles, "What sort of training? In more thanone physical apect? Then you can transform." The powers of vampires would be a mystery to her. Having had no point of reference other than Hollywood, which was a lesson in rediculousness, she would entertain no preconceived notions.
