Stalking through the woods, Amile explores this new territory seeking to implant its smells and sights within her mind's eye. The lands were more extensive than she had first imagined and she felt some of the evils of spirit begin to heal. She was not alone any longer but part of a pack for the first time in centuries and the implications of that did much to bolster herself against despair. Still, she had yet to meet any of the rest save Hide. She knew they were out there somewhere and it was with hope in mind that she also patrolled the land.
Moving with a grace peculiar to their kind, she padded silently through the underbrush inhaling the scent of the rich mulch that wafted up to her with each step she took. She could detect scent in an almost visual way, seeing distinct flavors in her mind of the various animals who inhabited the area. An opossum padded about on his naked feet with a waddle that made him look as though his front legs were too short for his back. She bared her teeth to him in greeting and he rewarded her with a ferocious hiss before lying down and pretending to be dead. Laughing in a canine way, with her tongue lolling out the side of her mouth, Amile left the sparsely covered fur ball and headed on out into the night.
Following the trail of a mountain goat, she wound her way across the face of the mountain. While it did rise to the higher peaks that reached up and beyond the tree line of pines, she traversed its length in a downward direction seeking the hidden and remote places tucked with the range. She could smell the scent of water long before she heard the rush of the river and it was with relief that she bent her muzzle to drink from its cool flows. The river was fresh from the mountain melt-off and cold to the touch. It did much to refresh her reminiscent of the clear cool streams from her homeland. Here the water of the river was choppy and rushing by at a swift rate. Crossing would not be easy so she searched downstream for a more amiable fording location.
Her search brought her nearly a mile downstream, but the day was pleasant and she was enjoying the exploration of her new home. The flood of the river higher up in the mountains had calmed enough for the bed to spread out wider allowing the waters to smooth across the surface with only a mild white capping effect from time to time. Large rocks peppered the water here and there and the river eventually took a large bend in it course nearly doubling back upon itself. It was here that she caught scent of her kind. It came to her from across the water and upon a large ridge of land that the bend wrapped itself around. Excitement filled her body even though the scents were clearly old in age, here Lycan were wont to gather.
She disdained the rocks in favor of a swim to refresh her from her travels and dived in with a loud splash like a cub delighting in a romp with her litter mates. The current carried her down stream nearly fifty yards despite its placid appearance, but she did not have to struggle to ford the waters. With strong strokes she maneuvered cross the current and reached the far shore. Upon reaching the bank she delighted in giving herself a shake and sent water spraying all about. Amile could feel herself being rejuvenated in this new world she had found and inhaled each breath with a pleasure she hadn't known in years.
Ascending the bluff before her, its long slopes having been eroded by the river through years of abrasive caresses, she was assailed more and more by the lingering scent of her kind. With cautioned steps she padded her way along an imperceptible trail until she reached the top of the bluff. The face of the bluff was open from the trees unto a moderate sized clearing in which a massive stone held court. The huge rock jutted out from the ground reaching for the sky much like an alpha male would stand before his pack. It surface was tiered yet smooth and could clearly accommodate many of her kind. Curiously she sat at the edge of the clearing scenting the ares for a clue as to how long it had been since the pack had gathered.
