Kathrine stirred, opening her eyes. The black stitches stood out vibrantly against her creamy skin. "Celest?"She tried to smile a little, but found it painful both physically, and mentally. "Why are you here?" Kathrine sat up, smoothing the wrinkles out of the blankets with her hands. "Nevermind...I'm glad you came to visit, it's so boring here."

Why she was there was the correct question really. Celest was supposed to be hiding herself from anyone, away from the burning light of the sun. But here she was, standing by the teenager's bedside, carrying her 'gifts' for her. She just smiled and pulled back the hood over her head, shaking her hair loose. She placed the flowers and fruits basket aside and took off the gloves from her hands. For now, she was safe within the confines of these four walls, as long as she does not go near the slightly open window where sunlight flooded in.
Celest shrugged her shoulders a bit and answered, "I thought it might be a good thing of you had a little company and besides, I decided to... deviate a little from my usual routine." Looking around a little, she cannot help but notice the stitches made on the girl's face. It messed up her face big time; they did not fit in quite right with her. She decided to veer away her attention from them by taking the flowers and some apples from the basket. She found a vase, filling it with water and arranging the Chrysanthemums in it before placing it in the table near Kathrine's head board. She then washed the apples and pulled herself a chair, positioning it beside the bed. With a knife, she started to cut the apples into even slices so the girl can eat a few.
"Hospitals can be quite boring, yes. You have to find ways to entertain yourself while you stay in these four walls." she said as she finished her cutting and held out a plateful of the apple slices, skinned and all in the right size so Kathrine would not have to be strained to open her mouth that wide and hurt herself. "Apple?"

Kathrine smiled this time, even though it hurt. "Yes, please." She took on of the pieces carefull and chewed it. She noticed that Celest had been careful to avoid the sunlight, and she was covered in heavy clothing, even though it was supposed to be a nice day out. "You're...not human...are you Celest?" There was no fear in her voice or eyes. It was a simple question. "You shun sunlight, you're only up and about at night, when you see blood your eyes turn red and you look like you're fighting some irrisistable urge, your skin is pale, paler than mine, and it's ice cold..." She picked at another apple slice and nibbled on it. "You're a vampire, aren't you?"

A small smile creased Celest's lips as the girl said that last sentence. The truth was out and there was no use hiding it. Taking one of the apple slices in her pale fingers and then taking a little bite at it, she exposed her sharp fangs to the teen. She was quite surprised she was not scared or freaked out, from the sounds of her voice and heartbeat, which were calm and even. Most people would have the usual reaction of screaming and the instinct to cover their necks in fear that she will drain them of their blood and get killed. She almost chuckled at the thought.
Her mismatched eyes looked into Kathrine's own and smirked, her fangs slightly protruding through her lips, and said silkily, "Very good. You've caught me, love. Yes, I am a vampire." She leaned back from where she sat and continued, "I feed on humans' blood to keep myself alive. My skin can burn if I stepped into the sun, that's why I'm only out at night." Her gaze remained on Kathrine as she raised a hand to her ear. She closed her eyes and smiled, saying, "I can hear your heart beating in you right now, alive, oh yes. And I can smell the blood that flows in your veins. Very tempting, indeed." Her tongue darted out and licked her lips slowly.
She opened her eyes and looked at the teenager again; they were red but then they reverted back to their normal hues. Celest chuckled and asked her, "Aren't you worried for your own safety right now?"

Kathrine shook her head and slipped out of the hospital bed, closing the blinds of the window and effectively blocking the sunlight. "I'm not afraid. You could have done me in that night in the park, that night in your apartment, or even last night, but you didn't." Kathrine sat back down in the bed. "And if you attacked, what could I do to stop you? There's no use worrying about the things you cannot change."

Celest's face turned serious as she heard the girl's side. The teenager before her was really not afraid of her, a monster that could snap anytime if ever she experienced that urge for blood. The air felt thick with the brief silence but then she sighed out. She crossed her legs together and scratched her cheek before saying, "I cannot always control the bloodlust within me. I almost came close to feeding on you last night, but fortunately I left your apartment in time. I fed on quite a lot since the thirst I felt was really strong."
"Besides, you still have to go through a lot of things. You're still young. I would never rob you of the the life you deserve, which was taken away from me many years ago. You've got a future, love, that's why you should live." She then checked her ebony-painted nails as she thought of her forgotten dreams before her immortal life. All of them gone forever but she had decided to just accept the facts and face the reality of it all now.
Celest then raised her head and added, "There's no stopping the bloodlust once it overcomes a vampire. Unless the vampire does not have the intention of killing his or her victim."

Celest drew back her finger and gave a thought to the girl's request. She tried to remember the time of the visiting hours of the hospital and the hours before dusk. She glanced at the closed window and said, "Of course, I could. Although I can only leave once the sun has set. I'll bring you a change of clothes once it's dark out. It will heal[/i], the vampire thought. The more important thing is that she was alright. She stood up from her seat and went near the window. Taking in a quick breath, she opened it slightly and let the sunlight pour in a little into the room. The next thing she did was considered crazy by other vampires. She held out her hand towards the light and moved it around, it was as if she was feeling the sun on her skin once again.
After a minute of 'experiment', the vampire withdrew her hand from the light which started to smoke and sizzle. She cradled it for a while as her body responded by quickly healing the burned area. She swallowed and said, "I guess I should. I think can still outrun the sun before it reaches its full intensity." With that decision, she threw on her hooded coat and slipped on the gloves again.
"I'll turn in for today and just return in the evening, alright?" Celest said as she pulled the hood over her head, creating a shade of her face, shadowing the area from her eyes up.

Celest left the room and closed the door behind her. She walked down the corridor and passed by doctors, nurses, patients and other people there, successfully blending in and not attracting curious looks from anyone. As soon as she saw the hospital exit, she braced herself and walked out into the early sunlight. Thanking the gods for her luck, she immediately got taxi and soon she was bound for home.
She would rest for that day when she gets to her apartment room, maybe dream another nightmare or two. She would then wake up and do the usual routine before she hunts for her meal. Although Celest knew she would have to make a detour at the hospital to drop off Kathrine's clothes. With all the plans straightened out in her head, she could relax and lean back.
